Camping outside of the Hall H overnight for the movie panels, buying exclusive merchandise, lining up for experiencing the upcoming video games… San Diego Comic Con is just a yearly carnival for all the comic fans all over the world. (indeed, two of my roommates in the youth hostel are all the way from Taiwan)
As I made up my mind to focus on the game for learning in the upcoming academic year, I selected several panels that regarding four aspects of educational games:
- For making beats: The Annual Musical Anatomy Of A Superhero panel. Guest speakers included Brian Tyler, my favorite composer for all time. Known for the sound tracks of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Transformers: Prime, and countless movies and video games.
- For making arts: From Illustration to Animation with Adobe. Introducing Adobe character animator. It can animate psd or ai files simply by facial recognition via a webcam. The application is included in after effects and creative cloud.
- For storytelling: Creating Immersive Game Story – George Krstic, head of story and creative development at Blizzard, joins Leah Hoyer (VP of creative, Telltale Games) and Guillaume Colomb (narrative lead at Bungie) to discuss ways they create immersive game narrative.
- For learning: STEAMY educational panel.
